The Huddersfield teenager dreaming of stadium fights in Bangkok by age 18

An ambitious Huddersfield teenager is confident he is making the right progress to fight professionally in Thailand while he is still a teen.

Tiernan Jackson-Hyde, 15, has been training in Thai boxing since he was just five years old after his parents looked for a way to channel his energy.

The young athlete spent many years training at Siam Camp gym in Huddersfield before joining the Kiatphontip team in Leeds eight months ago to spar with the best boxers in the North.

His dedication is already paying off, with his latest victory coming in April 2026 at a major show in Darlington against an older opponent.

Tiernan secured a second-round stoppage in that fight after delivering two powerful kicks to the head and stomach.

The sport becomes increasingly intense as fighters get older and wear less protection, but the local teenager remains completely unfazed by the challenge.

Tiernan already has incredible international success under his belt, having won a silver medal at the world championships in Thailand and a gold medal at the European tournament in Cyprus.

To help him reach the top, the elite athlete relies on sponsorship and is incredibly grateful for the support of his local sponsor, Big Back Supplements.

Anyone interested in supporting his journey to Bangkok can contact his dad, Louis Hyde, by emailing louismhyde33@gmail.com or by texting 07886 062783.

Louis Hyde explained: “Tiernan trained for a long time at Siam Camp gym in Huddersfield, and we’re grateful for the excellent tuition he received, especially from Jayson Brooks.

“This prepared him for success at international tournaments. He’s now part of the Kiatphontip team in Leeds, which allows him to train and spar with some of the best Thai boxers in the North.”

Tiernan said: “I’ve now been at Kiatphontip Gym in Leeds and coached by Jompop Kiatphontip for about eight months. I’m making progress.

“My latest win was on the Fight and Fitness show in Darlington in April and I got a second-round stoppage with two powerful kicks, one to the head and one to the stomach.

“To be able to demonstrate skills and show that in a bout I’m the stronger person mentally and physically. My bouts will become increasingly brutal, but I’m not fazed.”

Tieran spoke of his ambition: “To fight on the ONE Championship in Bangkok in a stadium in front of thousands. Maybe at just 18 years of age.

“A year ago, I got a silver at 51kg in the WMO world championships in Thailand. My first visit there. I defeated some tough opponents to reach the final which was won by a Japanese fighter.

“A few months previously, I’d won gold at 45kg at the WMO European tournament in Cyprus, defeating an Israeli fighter.

“The great thing about the tournaments is the opportunity to meet fighters from different countries and cultures and be exposed to a range of styles, which helps us all improve.”
