This Hong Kong classic is part of Arrow Video’s acquisition of Golden Princess films library, announced in 2025. Many only available in DVD or never released in the UK now upgraded to 4K UHD.
Bullet In The Head is Woo’s semi-autobiographical film, considered one of the most intense war films to date. The film has the director’s trademark stylings, unflinching, nihilistic and brutal.
This stars Tony Leung, Waise Lee, Jacky Cheung, Simon Yam and Fennie Yuen. Set during the Vietnam war following 3 best friends who flee Hong Kong flee for a smuggling life in Saigon. When a job to steal gold and rescue a club singer that threatens to destroy their friendship.
Synopsis | Set during the Vietnam war, the film follows B, Fai and Wing (iconic actors Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Jacky Cheung and Waise Lee), three best friends fleeing from Hong Kong to seek their fortune as smugglers. In Saigon, they join forces with fellow expat Lok (Simon Yam) and double-cross the ruthless gangster Luong to steal his gold and rescue nightclub singer Sau-ching (Yolinda Yan) from his clutches. The gang must fight their way out of the country in a nightmarish odyssey where each new battle pushes them beyond their limits and threatens to destroy their friendship.
Combining the gravity of Apocalypse Now with the spectacular action of Woo’s earlier films, Bullet in the Head is an uncompromising look at the ravages of war where ideals of brotherhood and comradeship disintegrate into greed and cruelty in a storm of bullets and blood.
