Brompton processing drives digital art at Art Basel Hong Kong

Hong Kong:

Brompton Technology’s Tessera LED processing was used to display German visual artist Kim Asendorf’s PXL DUO POD at Art Basel Hong Kong 2026, supporting an interactive installation presented by New York and London-based contemporary art gallery Nguyen Wahed. The work formed part of Zero 10, Art Basel’s global initiative focused on digital era art.

The installation comprised two LED screens positioned side by side, each displaying an evolving system of colours, movement and pixel structures. Visitors could interact with the work using a control pad to rotate the forms, zoom in and adjust the camera angle.

For the Hong Kong presentation, a ROE Visual Topaz 2.6mm LED system was driven by Brompton’s 4K Tessera SX40 LED processors and Tessera XD 10G data distribution units. The processing chain was used to reproduce the artwork’s individual points of light, colour palettes and deep black backgrounds, maintaining detail as the visuals changed.

Asendorf’s relationship with Brompton began at Art Basel Miami Beach, where his Raster und Spektrum work was presented as part of the inaugural Zero 10 programme. Following a demonstration at Brompton’s London headquarters, Brompton processing was specified for the Miami Beach presentation, where Fuse Technical Group provided technical management and introduced the project team to Absen. Absen LED panels were subsequently paired with Brompton processing.

“I had the chance to bring Kim, along with the artist Leander Herzog, to visit Brompton in London and it was a great opportunity to see artists connect with a technology behind the display,” said Matthew Ward from Fuse Technical Group. “Kim’s work relies on subtle differences in colour, extremely deep blacks and the clear separation of individual pixels.”

The project highlights the role of LED processing in digital art, where colour reproduction, contrast, motion and pixel definition form part of how an interactive work is experienced. Asendorf’s PXL ecosystem continues to develop, with PXL DEX, PXL POD and PXL NET currently featured in an exhibition at NODE in Palo Alto running until September 13.
