5 of the best things to do in Hong Kong this wet weekend, May 22-24

Hong Kong looks set for another rainy weekend, but there are plenty of indoor things to do, as well as a couple of outdoor events for those who don’t mind getting a little wet.

From cultural festivals to nostalgia-fuelled parties and to a grounding session with nature, here are five things to do in Hong Kong from May 22 to 24.

1. Extravaganza Latin Carnival

Extravaganza Latin Carnival returns to Hong Kong on May 23 and 24, from 4pm to 11pm, transforming the Central Harbourfront into a celebration of Latin culture.

World-class performers – including the 2026 Rio de Janeiro Carnival champion samba school, Viradouro – will fly in from Latin America, and Hong Kong band Samba Latina will deliver an electrifying fusion of samba, reggaeton, salsa and funk.

Guests can expect a multisensory spectacle featuring live DJ sets, neon body-painted dancers, fluorescent staging and a 100-square-metre (1,080 sq ft) night-glow garden. The immersive experience will also entail motion-sensing, LED-illuminated interactive dance floors, face-painting booths, authentic Latin cuisine and signature cocktails.
