Man charged after serious stabbing near Edinburgh Central Mosque

Police were called to an incident near Edinburgh Central Mosque on Nicolson Street at around 7pm on Friday, April 10, following reports of a serious assault. Emergency services responded quickly, and a man was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

The victim’s current condition has not been disclosed. Officers set up a cordon around the scene while detectives began their investigation, with multiple police vans surrounding the nearby car park.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been charged in connection with the incident.

Amanda Lyons arrested in Dubai after Interpol Red Notice in Global crime crackdown

Amanda Lyons, the wife of Steven Lyons, was arrested at Dubai Airport after being flagged on an Interpol Red Notice. The alert, used to locate wanted individuals internationally, led Dubai Police to detain her as part of a global crackdown on the Lyons clan’s alleged drug trafficking network.

Her arrest is linked to Operation Armorum, a large-scale investigation led by the Spanish Civil Guard with support from agencies including Europol, the National Crime Agency, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Authorities say the operation has dismantled a highly organised network involved in drug trafficking and money laundering across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Two more charged after alleged attempted murder on housing estate

Police launched an investigation after a 38-year-old man was seriously injured in an alleged attempted murder in the Calder Gardens area of Edinburgh on April 2. Emergency services responded to the scene, and the victim was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment, though his condition has not been disclosed.

Initially, two men aged 25 and 21 were arrested and charged in connection with the attack, appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on April 4. Detectives had indicated they were searching for four suspects as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Police have since confirmed that two additional men, aged 32 and 28, have now been arrested and charged.
