Gulftainer has rolled out the Khor Fakkan China Express (KCX 1) service to connect key Chinese ports including Qingdao, Shanghai and Nansha with Khorfakkan on a biweekly rotation.
Khor Fakkan is the UAE’s only major container port outside of the Strait of Hormuz, accessible without transiting the disputed waterway. The port has been struck during the recent Middle East conflict, including attacks on ships at its anchorage.
Operated under the GT Lines brand, the new container service deploys three vessels to offer a direct shipping service between major Chinese export hubs and Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal, reducing transit times and optimising delivery timelines for cargo destined for the UAE and subsequent regional markets across the Gulf.
The KCX 1 service positions Khor Fakkan Port as a premier consolidation gateway for China-Gulf trade, while significantly enhancing supply chain predictability for shippers on this route, the company said.
Headquartered in Sharjah, UAE, Gulftainer is a privately owned port operator and logistics group, with core businesses covering container terminal operations and integrated supply chain services across multiple regions worldwide.
