Anwar Ibrahim invites Tarique Rahman to visit Malaysia

DHAKA, April 9, 2026 (BSS) – Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to visit Malaysia at a mutually convenient time.

The Malaysian premier invited his Bangladesh counterpart today when Bangladesh’s Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury met him at his office in Putrajaya in Malaysia.

The meeting was attended, among others, by the Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin and the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia, according an official release received here.

At the outset, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim extended warm congratulations to Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and praised his long struggle to restore democracy and commended the country’s ongoing progress.

During the meeting, Adviser Mahdi Amin conveyed personal greetings from the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and handed over a special letter.

The two sides held detailed discussions on labor market cooperation and worker recruitment. Both the parties reaffirmed their commitment to preventing worker exploitation and ensuring a transparent, fair and efficient recruitment system.

They also discussed enhancing bilateral trade and investment. Both countries expressed interest in strengthening economic engagement for mutual benefit. In addition, cooperation in the education sector, particularly teacher exchange, and academic collaboration was discussed to further deepen people-to-people ties.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the current excellent state of bilateral relations and pledged to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors.
