Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has invited Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to visit the Southeast Asian country at a mutually convenient time.

The invitation was extended when Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury and PM’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Mahdi Amin called on the Malaysian premier at his office in Putrajaya today, according to a ministry statement.

At the outset, Anwar Ibrahim conveyed warm felicitations to Tarique Rahman on his election as the PM of Bangladesh and commended the country’s long-standing struggle for democracy and its continued progress.

Mahdi Amin, during the meeting, conveyed personal greetings from the Bangladesh prime minister to his Malaysian counterpart and handed over a letter from him.

Both sides held substantive discussions on labour relations, reaffirming their shared commitment to ensuring a transparent and efficient recruitment system to prevent the exploitation of workers.

They also explored avenues to enhance bilateral trade and investment, expressing interest in expanding economic engagement for mutual benefit.

In addition, the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in the education sector, including the exchange of teachers and academic collaboration to further deepen people-to-people ties.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.
