Indonesia adopts 3C framework to boost game industry

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Communications and Digital Affairs Ministry has adopted a “3C” framework — connectivity, catalyst and competency — to drive growth of the country’s game industry, a ministry official said.

Alfreno Kautsar, special staff to the communications minister for youth and startups, said the ministry’s Digital Infrastructure Directorate General was expanding fiber networks to strengthen connectivity.

“This initiative is quite important to develop talents for the industry,” he said at an event marking 2026 National Games Day in Jakarta on Saturday.

The government is also implementing its Internet Village program, which has expanded internet access to 2,000 locations nationwide as part of its broader digital connectivity policy, Kautsar said.

Under the catalyst pillar, Kautsar highlighted the establishment of Garuda Sparks Innovation Hubs in 20 regions through the ministry’s Directorate General of Digital Ecosystem.

He said the hubs serve as platforms for people to develop digital innovations and help address broader challenges facing society.

Holding the 2026 National Games Day celebrations at the Jakarta hub demonstrated the ministry’s commitment to supporting growth of the country’s game industry, Kautsar said.

Similar hubs have been established in several major cities, including Bandung, Medan, Pontianak, Manado and Jayapura, he added.

On competency development, Kautsar said the ministry had launched various digital talent training programs administered by its Human Resource Development Agency.

He said the programs were open to all Indonesian citizens, with information available through the ministry’s Digital Talent Scholarship website.

Kautsar made the remarks as game developers, regulators and gaming enthusiasts gathered in Jakarta for the 2026 National Games Day event.
