UAE flag carrier Emirates has expanded its codeshare partnership with South African Airways (SAA), adding access to nine destinations across southern and central Africa.
The new codeshare routes include Johannesburg to Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth in South Africa, alongside regional connections to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gaborone in Botswana, Windhoek in Namibia, Lusaka in Zambia, Harare and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Previously, the partnership enabled SAA customers to connect to Emirates-operated flights from South Africa via Dubai. The expanded arrangement now allows passengers from both airlines to access more destinations across their combined networks.

Matshela Seshibe, Acting Group CEO of SAA, said: “This partnership is about more than connecting destinations. It is about connecting people, businesses and opportunities across the continent and beyond.” He emphasised that the partnership will enhance Johannesburg’s position as a key gateway for travel and tourism on the continent.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, added that the expansion of services reflects Emirates’ commitment to the region and confidence in African markets.
The agreement builds on Emirates’ operations to South Africa, which began in 1995. The airline currently serves Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban with a combined 56 weekly flights.
The carrier continues to offer more routes from the UAE through ongoing codeshare agreements. Earlier this year, the airline introduced new partnerships with Tunisair and Air Cambodia, strengthening connectivity to North Africa and East Asia.
