Electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for nearly one in two cars sold in the three months to June 30, with the demand surge triggered by the Iran war, generous government tax incentives, and a shift in consumer perceptions.
The total number of EVs sold doubled to about 69,000 from about 34,000 in the previous quarter, and plug-in hybrid sales leapt to 35,000 units from 19,000, according to data published by the Australian Automobile Association.
