Ugandan Promoter Ssenkaali Joseph Builds A Bridge Between Kampala’s Creatives And Dubai’s Diaspora Market

KAMPALA — As Ugandan artistes increasingly look beyond national borders for new audiences, a new generation of entertainment entrepreneurs is emerging to create links between local talent and global markets. Among them is Ssenkaali Joseph, a promoter whose work has focused on connecting Kampala’s creative scene with the Ugandan and East African diaspora in Dubai.

Born on February 12, 1999, in Lukaya Town Council, Kalungu District, Joseph developed his interest in entertainment while growing up in the Greater Masaka region, an area known for its rich cultural traditions and musical influence. He attended Kamuwunga Primary School and later Mpeera Secondary School, where his passion for event organisation and talent promotion continued to grow.

Joseph is the founder and chief executive officer of Ssenkaali Promotions Ltd, an entertainment agency based in Dubai with operations in Kampala. The company specialises in event management, artiste promotion, talent management, digital marketing, branding and creative development.

Through the agency, Joseph has worked to create platforms for Ugandan musicians, DJs and other creatives seeking exposure outside the country. His activities have included organising entertainment events, promotional campaigns and showcases aimed at bringing artistes closer to international audiences.

Dubai, which hosts a growing East African diaspora community, has become a key market in Joseph’s strategy. By operating between Kampala and the United Arab Emirates, he has focused on creating opportunities for cultural exchange while helping Ugandan entertainers build networks beyond the local industry.

In 2024, Joseph expanded his contribution to the creative sector by launching The Showing Awards, an initiative that recognises achievements in music, digital media, content creation, modelling and other entertainment-related fields.

The awards have included activities in both Uganda and Dubai, providing a platform for creatives to gain recognition and interact with industry players. The 2026 edition features a Uganda event in Kampala, with categories covering musicians, DJs, influencers, content creators and promoters.

Known professionally as Promota Ssenkaali Joseph Kampala, Joseph has continued to combine talent management, event promotion and digital branding in his efforts to support Uganda’s growing creative economy.

His journey reflects the changing nature of entertainment promotion, where young entrepreneurs are increasingly using regional and diaspora networks to create new opportunities for local artists. Through his Kampala-Dubai connection, Joseph represents a growing group of Ugandans seeking to position the country’s creative talent on international platforms.
