Tokyo, Kyoto, Mount Fuji and Kamakura shown by Kyle Kotajarvi

I’ve been talking about Japan a lot lately, and I hope it doesn’t seem repetitive. Ironically, it’s a country that didn’t appeal to me years ago.

A tour of some of the beautiful hidden treasures of Nagasaki, Japan
A route with breathtaking views of majestic Fuji, Japan’s sacred mountain

My idea of Japan was full of clichés that have gradually fallen away as I watch videos that show things less known to the general public, especially the natural beauty of this Asian country. I just watched a video posted by the American photographer Kyle Kotajarvi (I like his YouTube channel more and more, I recommend it) that shows images recorded during a trip to Japan. In it, he shows images of Tokyo, Kyoto, Mount Fuji, and Kamakura, with a very special color palette and a well-chosen musical accompaniment. This time I’ll leave the facts aside and let you simply watch the video:

As usual, I’ll leave you with some images from the video. Kotajarvi demonstrates a very good eye for photography. He has a great command of light and color, creating welcoming atmospheres even in environments that don’t seem so at first glance. He also has the ability to capture the beauty of very ordinary things, a skill I’ve valued in photography for many years. The image at the top of this article is of the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Kyoto.

An image of Mount Fuji as seen from the town of Fujiyoshida.

Traditional Japanese lanterns in Kyoto.

A self-portrait by Kyle Kotajarvi on a busy street in Tokyo.
