The outstanding work of healthcare professionals across the Black Country is being celebrated at a series of events this Autumn, with people across the region encouraged to get involved.

The Care in Action awards return to Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust this October, to celebrate the life-changing work of individuals and teams who support people during the most challenging times of their lives.

Alongside staff nominating their hard-working colleagues, the public is also invited to vote for a staff member or team who they feel deserves to be recognised for their service.

The Patient Choice Award is the only category shaped by the public. Once nominations are received, a judging panel will select the winner, who will be announced at the Care in Action award event in the Autumn.

The Care in Action awards reflect the Trust’s values of compassion, accountability, respect and empowerment, celebrating staff who embody these values every day to improve people’s lives.

Kerry Smith, Chief People Officer said: “At Black Country Healthcare we are compassionate, accountable, respectful and empowered. We want to celebrate these values being practiced day in, day out, by our wonderful staff who care deeply about the people and communities they serve.

“Whether you were directly supported by our staff or have seen how a loved one has benefited from exemplary care, we are eager to hear from you. From older adult mental health services to children’s health support, our teams are there to help our communities live happier and healthier lives.

“By submitting a nomination, you are helping to shine a light on the fantastic individuals and teams that work tirelessly across the Black Country to help some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

“We can’t wait to receive your nominations to kick off our Care in Action awards.”

Nominations are open now until Friday 4th September. To make a nomination, visit the CARE Awards 2026 website.
