UAE’s Chivalrous Knight 3 campaign sends 980 tonnes of aid to Gaza

LONDON: The UAE has dispatched five aid convoys to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as part of its Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 humanitarian campaign.

The 62 trucks carrying 980 tonnes of relief supplies have arrived in Gaza to deliver food aid, shelter materials, medical supplies and medical equipment, prepared by teams from the UAE Humanitarian Aid Logistics Center in the Egyptian city of Al-Arish.

Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 has been providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians since the conflict in Gaza began in late 2023, according to the Emirates News Agency.

The UAE has also evacuated dozens of patients from Gaza to receive medical treatment abroad, or at the Humanitarian Aid Logistics Center, which boasts a floating hospital equipped with 100 patient beds, surgical units, an intensive care unit, a radiology section, laboratories and a pharmacy.

The death toll from the Israeli conflict in Gaza rose to 73,246 last week, with 173,727 people injured since Oct. 7, 2023, according to the Palestine News Agency.

At least 1,123 people have been killed and 3,616 injured since October last year, when a US-sponsored peace plan for Gaza was signed to ensure a permanent ceasefire and the beginning of reconstruction efforts. That plan has since stalled.
