A landslide has occurred in the Chinese city of Chongqing. At least eight people are dead, and 34 unaccounted for.
State-run Xinhua News Agency and other sources say a mountain slope collapsed on Friday in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, hitting many houses.
Footage aired by state-run China Central Television shows the damage.
Search and rescue efforts are underway but large rocks and the risk of secondary disasters, such as another landslide, are hindering the work.
Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the need to prevent secondary disasters. He also urged officials to identify the cause and ensure safety.
