Dubai Customs has introduced temporary measures allowing cargo bound for Jebel Ali Port and Dubai’s free zones to enter the emirate through Khorfakkan and Fujairah.
Containers arriving at the two ports can be transported by road directly to Jebel Ali and the free zones without completing the usual customs clearance procedures at their point of entry.
The measure has been introduced in response to disruption affecting port operations and cargo flows across the region.
Importers or their representatives must submit transit declarations through Dubai Customs’ electronic system before containers leave Khorfakkan or Fujairah.
Cargo will be transported under customs control, with guarantees required until the containers reach their approved destination in Dubai.
The temporary arrangement creates an alternative route for Dubai-bound cargo outside the Strait of Hormuz, allowing shipments to land on the UAE’s Gulf of Oman coast before continuing overland.
Dubai Customs said the measure would remain in place until further notice and could be amended or withdrawn depending on regional operating conditions.
