Profits of China’s major industrial firms up 18.8% YoY in Jan-May 2026

Profits of China’s major industrial firms rose by 18.8 per cent year on year (YoY) between January and May this year, surpassing a rise of 18.2 per cent in the first four months, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Industrial firms with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan (~$2.93 million) saw their combined profits reach 3.14 trillion yuan in the five-month period, a state-controlled news agency reported.

Profits of China’s major industrial firms rose by 18.8 per cent YoY between January and May, surpassing a rise of 18.2 per cent in the first four months.
Industrial firms with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan (~$2.93 million) saw their combined profits reach 3.14 trillion yuan in the five-month period.
In May alone, profits of such firms rose by 21.1 per cent YoY.
