Kazakhstan was forced to reduce oil production after a gas processing plant in Russia was shut down. This is reported by Bloomberg, informs UNN.

Details

It is noted that the Karachaganak field is among the three largest oil and gas projects in Kazakhstan, providing about 10% of the national oil production. Since the field produces crude oil and natural gas together, it cannot significantly reduce gas production without also reducing oil production.

As a result of the strike, Karachaganak is currently producing 25,000 tons of crude oil per day, compared to the usual 34,000 tons

– the media quotes Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenzhenov.

The publication clarifies that the reductions occurred after a drone attack on Wednesday on the Orenburg gas processing plant in Russia, located approximately 170 kilometers from the border with Kazakhstan.

Recall

According to Reuters, Russia is negotiating with Kazakhstan regarding the import of AI-92 gasoline to mitigate the deficit in the domestic market caused by refinery shutdowns and unscheduled repairs.

Russia for the first time admitted a drop in oil production, blaming it on “unscheduled maintenance”04.06.26, 14:58 • 3987 views
