Dubai to develop world’s first AI-designed park

Dubai will develop the world’s first AI-designed park under a new initiative approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, as part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

The initiative will feature the first AI-powered park design challenge, using advanced technologies to design parks tailored to community needs. Machine learning and data analytics will be used throughout the planning and design process to better understand how public spaces are used. It will also enable residents to contribute to future park designs through interactive digital tools.

The challenge aims to generate new ideas for public spaces while supporting sustainable urban development. Participation is open to designers, urban planners, researchers, university students, startups and technology innovators. Winning designs will be selected by an international judging panel, with input from the community.

Other developments in the masterplan include the Dubai Falcon Market, a AED50 million (US$13.6 million) destination celebrating Emirati falconry heritage. Spanning around 50,000 square feet, the market will feature retail outlets, cultural spaces and visitor experiences inspired by the symbolism of the falcon.

Dubai will also illuminate eight kilometres of Dubai Creek under a new lighting project covering promenades, heritage markets, waterfront walkways and historic districts. Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027, the project will create a new night-time destination for residents and visitors.

His Excellency Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said: “These projects reflect Dubai’s vision of developing a more sustainable and higher-quality city by introducing innovative urban models that integrate advanced infrastructure, cultural identity and future technologies, contributing to community wellbeing and enhanced quality of life.”

The project builds on Dubai’s wider push to embed artificial intelligence across government services and city planning. In April 2026, the emirate announced plans to expand the use of AI across public sector operations as part of efforts to improve efficiency, service delivery and urban development.
