To help drive research and development in its space sector, the UAE has announced the launch of its AED1 billion International Space Cooperation Programme. This announcement was made by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

UAE Aims To Drive Development Within Its Space Industry

The recently announced programme will do more than just support research and development in the UAE space sector. This programme also aims to put advanced technologies to use locally, empower local talent, and connect UAE research centres with global partners.

With this programme in place, the UAE hopes to strengthen its presence in the global space industry. Over the years, the UAE has become more active and engaged in the global space race.

Now it is preparing the next generation to be more prepared to carry on building the region’s space industry. Just like other upcoming space industries, the UAE aims to build a strong and sustainable space ecosystem capable of attracting investment from foreign partners through the development of space infrastructures.

The AED1 billion International Space Cooperation Programme aligns with this objective. Through this project, the UAE will ensure local collaborations between researchers, universities, and firms, which will help boost innovations in its space economy.
Over the course of the coming years, the UAE hopes to significantly grow its space economy. Local and international partnerships will be of importance, and the AED1 billion International Space Cooperation Programme might provide the right conditions for such growth.
