One year on from the launch of the national 10 Year Health Plan, progress across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight includes expanded general practice and pharmacy services, as well as a strong emphasis on prevention and community-based support.

GP practices in the region now deliver more than a million appointments each month.

More than 110,000 people also used the Pharmacy First scheme between April 2025 and March 2026 for treatment of common conditions that would previously have required a GP visit.

Neighbourhood health is central to the approach, aiming to deliver joined-up, proactive care through NHS services, local authorities, social care and the voluntary sector.

Dr Lara Alloway, chief medical and neighbourhood officer at NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight, said: “We’ve made important progress over the last year, improving access and strengthening support in communities. But we know there is much more to do.

“Neighbourhood health is about joined-up care that works better for people.

“It’s closer to home, easier to access, and more focused on prevention.”

Residents are encouraged to share their feedback through an online survey to help shape the future of neighbourhood health services.
