“Close Those Loopholes”: Thousands of Australian Scientists Tied to China’s Military

On Sky News Australia, John Lee warns that thousands of Australian scientists are collaborating with institutions linked to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), raising serious national security concerns. He says, “We’ve got some legislation that bans collaboration with blacklisted entities, but in China, any company or any individual can be compelled by the state, by the PLA, to hand over any research.” Lee stresses the importance of closing the loopholes and “not leave it up to universities.”
