Harmony Gold is turning to a combination of nature-based and engineering solutions to address air pollution from its mining activities. The company is using phytoremediation, which involves deploying plants to clean up natural elements, alongside advanced dust-suppression systems to minimize harmful air emissions.

These initiatives aim to provide cleaner, safer air to local communities and workers near mining sites. By blending ecological approaches with technical measures, Harmony Gold seeks to mitigate environmental impact while supporting the wellbeing of people living around its operations.

Harmony Gold has taken recent steps to strengthen health and safety for its workforce, advancing a flu vaccination campaign at its mining operations. The company is also progressing on its sustainability strategy through the rehabilitation of 38 hectares of land via demolition and revegetation projects. These measures form part of Harmony Gold’s ongoing efforts to reduce the impact of its mining activities on employees and the environment.
