LB Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:LBRX) Is In A Good Position To Deliver On Growth Plans

Just because a business does not make any money, does not mean that the stock will go down. For example, biotech and mining exploration companies often lose money for years before finding success with a new treatment or mineral discovery. Nonetheless, only a fool would ignore the risk that a loss making company burns through its cash too quickly.

So should LB Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:LBRX) shareholders be worried about its cash burn? In this report, we will consider the company’s annual negative free cash flow, henceforth referring to it as the ‘cash burn’. First, we’ll determine its cash runway by comparing its cash burn with its cash reserves.

We’ve found 21 US stocks that are forecast to pay a dividend yield of over 6% next year. See the full list for free.

How Long Is LB Pharmaceuticals’ Cash Runway?

A company’s cash runway is the amount of time it would take to burn through its cash reserves at its current cash burn rate. When LB Pharmaceuticals last reported its March 2026 balance sheet in May 2026, it had zero debt and cash worth US$366m. Looking at the last year, the company burnt through US$50m. Therefore, from March 2026 it had 7.2 years of cash runway. Even though this is but one measure of the company’s cash burn, the thought of such a long cash runway warms our bellies in a comforting way. Depicted below, you can see how its cash holdings have changed over time.

How Is LB Pharmaceuticals’ Cash Burn Changing Over Time?

LB Pharmaceuticals didn’t record any revenue over the last year, indicating that it’s an early stage company still developing its business. Nonetheless, we can still examine its cash burn trajectory as part of our assessment of its cash burn situation. As it happens, the company’s cash burn reduced by 3.7% over the last year, which suggests that management are maintaining a fairly steady rate of business development, albeit with a slight decrease in spending. Clearly, however, the crucial factor is whether the company will grow its business going forward. For that reason, it makes a lot of sense to take a look at our analyst forecasts for the company.

How Hard Would It Be For LB Pharmaceuticals To Raise More Cash For Growth?

Even though it has reduced its cash burn recently, shareholders should still consider how easy it would be for LB Pharmaceuticals to raise more cash in the future. Companies can raise capital through either debt or equity. Commonly, a business will sell new shares in itself to raise cash and drive growth. We can compare a company’s cash burn to its market capitalisation to get a sense for how many new shares a company would have to issue to fund one year’s operations.

LB Pharmaceuticals has a market capitalisation of US$851m and burnt through US$50m last year, which is 5.9% of the company’s market value. Given that is a rather small percentage, it would probably be really easy for the company to fund another year’s growth by issuing some new shares to investors, or even by taking out a loan.

Is LB Pharmaceuticals’ Cash Burn A Worry?

As you can probably tell by now, we’re not too worried about LB Pharmaceuticals’ cash burn. In particular, we think its cash runway stands out as evidence that the company is well on top of its spending. On this analysis its cash burn reduction was its weakest feature, but we are not concerned about it. Looking at all the measures in this article, together, we’re not worried about its rate of cash burn; the company seems well on top of its medium-term spending needs. On another note, LB Pharmaceuticals has 3 warning signs (and 2 which can’t be ignored) we think you should know about.
