Indonesia locates two Singaporeans missing after Mount Dukono eruption

JAKARTA, 9 maggio (Reuters) – Le autorità indonesiane hanno localizzato sabato due singaporiani dispersi dopo l’eruzione del monte Dukono sull’isola di Halmahera, nel Pacifico, hanno detto i funzionari, ma non era chiaro se fossero vivi.

“Abbiamo identificato le coordinate della loro posizione. È intorno al bordo del cratere”, ha detto a Reuters Iwan Ramdani, capo dell’agenzia di soccorso indonesiana. Iwan Ramdani, responsabile dell’agenzia di soccorso indonesiana, ha dichiarato alla Reuters: “Questo è emerso dalla sorveglianza dei droni ed è coerente con i racconti dei testimoni”.

Entrambi sembravano trovarsi a 20-30 metri dal bordo del cratere principale, ha detto il portavoce dell’agenzia per la mitigazione dei disastri Abdul Muhari.

I soccorritori non hanno trovato nessun indonesiano disperso da quando il vulcano nella provincia di North Maluku ha iniziato a eruttare venerdì, sputando cenere fino a 10 km di altezza.

I sopravvissuti hanno detto alla polizia che i tre dispersi erano morti, ha detto venerdì il capo della polizia Erlichson Pasaribu.

Sono stati dispiegati almeno 100 soccorritori, personale militare e di polizia, oltre a due droni termici, che hanno concentrato le ricerche intorno al cratere, coprendo un’area di circa 700 metri, ha detto Iwan.

Le evacuazioni sono state ostacolate dal terreno estremo e dalle continue eruzioni. Venerdì le autorità hanno evacuato 17 persone – sette singaporiani e 10 indonesiani.

Il Ministero degli Affari Esteri di Singapore e l’ambasciata a Giacarta stanno collaborando con le autorità indonesiane per raccogliere informazioni e fornire assistenza consolare e supporto ai singaporiani colpiti e alle loro famiglie, ha dichiarato il Ministero in un comunicato.

L’agenzia vulcanologica sta mantenendo il terzo livello di allerta più alto per il Monte Dukono, ha dichiarato Lana Saria, responsabile dell’agenzia, aggiungendo che ai residenti e ai turisti è stato consigliato di non svolgere alcuna attività nel raggio di 4 km (2,5 miglia) dal cratere.

Non ci sono stati reporter di interruzioni di volo causate dall’eruzione.

L’Indonesia si trova sull‘“Anello di fuoco” del Pacifico, un’area ad alta attività sismica in cima a diverse placche tettoniche.
