Decision on whether students will return to UAE schools deferred by MOE

The Ministry of Education has announced that the approved learning model for the upcoming period, whether in-person or remote, will be announced on the evening of Sunday, 10 May 2026, following an assessment of the current situation in coordination with the relevant authorities, in a manner that ensures the safety of the educational community and the continuity of the educational process

Events on Friday have now (08/05/2026) seen the MOE choose to defer the decision given the very strong interests on each side of the argument as to whether to (1) reopen schools to ensure continuity of face-to-face education or, (2) to prioritise the alternative calls for the safety and wellbeing of the entire educational community, including children, families and teachers.
