A FORM Four male student died, while another in Form Three was seriously injured after they were allegedly electrocuted at a secondary school in Daro, Mukah Division, Sarawak, last night.

Matu Daro District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Rahim Mihos, said police received a report from the school at about 8 pm regarding the incident.

He said the 16-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical officers.

“Another 15-year-old victim, who is also a Form Three student, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Daro Hospital before being referred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sibu Hospital for further treatment,” he said in a statement today.

Rahim said another 15-year-old male student who was also at the scene of the incident was unhurt.

Following that, he said Sarawak Energy had been informed to cut off the electricity supply to ensure the scene was safe.

He said the victim’s body was taken to Daro Hospital for further action, and the case is still under investigation. – May 7, 2026
