The Minister of Transport and financial advisor to the Prime Minister, Mohammed Al-Shahoubi, signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with the American company Boeing during an official visit by a Government of National Unity delegation to the United States, aimed at developing Libya’s civil aviation sector.

According to government media, the memorandum aims to modernize the civil aviation fleet, support programs to acquire modern aircraft, enhance technical and technological cooperation, and develop aviation infrastructure in line with international standards, contributing to improved operational efficiency and service quality.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior advisor to the US president, Massad Boulos, who stressed the importance of strengthening Libyan-American partnership, praising progress in the economic track; especially steps toward unifying the state budget, considering the agreement a starting point for broader cooperation in development and investment, according to government media.

Both sides affirmed that the memorandum represents an important step toward advancing Libya’s air transport sector, enhancing regional and international connectivity, and supporting economic development efforts in the country.

The Government of National Unity delegation included Minister of Economy and Trade Suhail Abu Shiha, Minister of Oil and Gas Khalifa Abdulsadiq, head of the executive team for presidential initiatives and strategic projects Mustafa Al-Manea, and Chairman of the Libyan Investment Authority Ali Mahmoud.
