Hwajing charters Adora cruise ship for Malaysia season: Travel Weekly Asia

No stranger to cruise charters, Malaysia-based Hwajing Travel & Tours is marking its 37th anniversary with the exclusive charter of Adora Mediterranea, which will homeport in Port Klang at the end of this year.

The deployment underscores the agency’s growing ambition in cruise chartering, bringing the China-based ship into the Malaysian market for a series of short- to mid-haul regional itineraries.

Sailing between November and December, the programme will feature four cruise itineraries between two and five nights:

Formerly sailing as Costa Mediterranea under Costa Cruises, the 12-deck vessel was rebranded as Adora Mediterranea in July 2024 and is currently homeported in Guangzhou.

The 292m-long ship accommodates up to 2,680 guests across 1,057 staterooms and suites. Drawing design inspiration from 15th- to 17th-century Italian palaces, it offers a mix of classic European styling alongside modern cruise amenities, including multiple dining venues and themed bars.

The charter builds on Hwajing’s track record in cruise operations. The agency was previously recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records for the “First International Chartered Cruise Homeporting in Malaysia”, following its charter programmes with Costa Serena in 2024 and Piano Land in 2025.
