League of Legends team JD GAMING have unveiled their official team pet, Duobao, a less than six-month-old puppy, and she has already brought “joy” to the squad.
Over the last few years, esports teams have been increasingly following what traditional sports teams do. Some have their own home arenas, there are a few team mascots, as well as fan groups that travel to events across the globe so they can get behind their favorite team.
The latter of those is the most common, especially in Europe, with the likes of Paris Gentlemates in Call of Duty and Team Vitality in Counter-Strike taking loyal fans all over to different events.
Well, the LPL’s JD Gaming has now raised the bar, introducing an official “team pet” that now brings “joy” to players while they’re practicing.
JD Gaming unveil Duobao as official team pet
The League of Legends squad introduced the puppy, named Duobao, on April 21, giving her the full new signing treatment.
“We are excited to introduce our official team pet, Duobao! This 100-day-old puppy is the new “social butterfly” of our training base. After a successful “snack-filled” signing, she’s ready to bring warmth and joy to the team,” they posted on X.
JD Gaming also shared snaps of the young pup doing, well, what young pups do – sleeping quite a bit and deciding to invade someone’s privacy by looking for them.
There was also a short clip of the pup interacting with members of the team, simply trotting around the office and strutting her stuff, as well as another of them playing with Chen ‘GALA’ Wei as well.
The League of Legends team have promised more Duobao content as time goes on, with fans desperate for it already.
“Will we get Duobao merch,” one asked. “This might just be the biggest signing of the year,” another chimed in.
Over in Japan, a tiny Pomeranian was recruited to the police force, proving that size doesn’t matter.
