Delhi Police bust fake ENO and Nescafé manufacturing racket in Madhu Vihar; 4 arrested

NEW DELHI: In a major crackdown, Delhi Police’s Cyber Cell and Special Staff (Crime Branch) have busted a highly organised racket involved in the large-scale manufacturing of fake ENO antacid powder, along with counterfeit Nescafé coffee products in the city’s Madhu Vihar area on Tuesday. Four accused have been arrested in the operation.Acting on specific inputs, police raided two illegal manufacturing units, where the counterfeit products were being produced and packed. Authorities recovered over 1 lakh fake ENO sachets and around 50,000 fake coffee sachets. Filling machines, raw materials, and packaging equipment used in the illegal production were also seized. In a separate operation, six people were arrested in connection with a counterfeit toothpaste racket in Outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala area on April 2.The accused were allegedly refilling empty branded toothpaste tubes with unhygienic local paste, sealing them using machines, and selling them as genuine products. A raid at a godown in C-Block, Mahaveer Vihar led to the seizure of a large quantity of fake toothpaste, empty and filled tubes, cartons, tube-filling and sealing machines, and other equipment. The main accused in that case was also apprehended.Police said investigations are underway to identify the wider supply and distribution networks linked to both counterfeit operations.(With agency inputs)
