HONG KONG— Cathay Pacific (CX) has unveiled its newly redesigned flagship First Class lounge, The Wing, First, at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), marking a major upgrade to its premium ground experience. The lounge will officially reopen to passengers on April 22, 2026, following an extensive redesign.

Located in Terminal 1 at Hong Kong, The Wing, First has been part of the airport’s original infrastructure since 1998. The refreshed space forms a key pillar of Cathay Pacific’s broader investment strategy, which includes over HK$100 billion allocated to fleet, cabins, lounges, and digital enhancements.

Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge Redesign

The redesigned lounge introduces a refined design language developed in partnership with StudioIlse. It retains signature materials such as green onyx while adding walnut wood finishes and granite flooring to create a more modern yet familiar environment.

The layout emphasizes residential comfort and spatial fluidity, combining privacy with openness. Custom-designed furniture and lighting further enhance the lounge’s identity, with each element carefully positioned to improve passenger comfort and usability.

At the center of the lounge is the Atrium, a naturally lit communal space anchored by a signature bar and a self-service pantry. The area adapts throughout the day, offering breakfast selections, afternoon tea, and evening dining options.

Premium Facilities at The Wing

The Wing, First introduces a wide range of upgraded amenities focused on dining, relaxation, and productivity. The Dining Room offers a full-service à la carte experience, featuring both international cuisine and regional Chinese dishes developed in collaboration with Mott 32.

For wellness, the lounge includes The Retreat, which provides private massage booths designed for relaxation before flights. Additional facilities include upgraded shower suites with customizable lighting and water settings to enhance the passenger experience.

The Alcove offers semi-private seating areas for rest or light work, while The Bureau provides enclosed workspaces tailored for business travelers. These areas allow passengers to choose between privacy and connectivity depending on their needs.

The Wing’s Expansion Strategy

The reopening of The Wing, First, aligns with Cathay Pacific’s global lounge development plan. The airline has already refurbished lounges such as The Bridge in Hong Kong and its Beijing lounge, and it plans to expand further with a new facility at New York’s JFK Terminal 6.

In parallel, The Wing, Business lounge will undergo its own redesign, with reopening scheduled for 2027. These developments reflect Cathay Pacific’s strategy to strengthen its premium positioning across key international hubs.

The airline aims to deliver a consistent, high-quality lounge experience that integrates design, service, and functionality. By focusing on passenger comfort and operational efficiency, the redesigned lounge sets a new benchmark for First Class ground services.
