Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar continues to strengthen collaboration with France, by organizing the ICC Immersion Indonesia/Singapore program held on April 11-16, 2026, in Jakarta.

In her statement, Monday, Irene emphasized Indonesia’s strong potential in the global creative economy, particularly in subsectors integrating art and technology.

“Indonesia has strong creative talent and rich cultural diversity. We are open to cross-country collaboration, especially those combining art, technology and immersive experiences. This aligns with our effort to position the creative economy as the new engine of growth,” she said during a meeting with the French delegation in Jakarta.

She encouraged the French delegation to engage directly with creative practitioners in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali to deepen understanding and strengthen industry networks.

“We want this collaboration to move beyond dialogue into concrete partnerships, including co-production, creative residencies, and joint IP development,” Irene added.

The ICC Immersion program, initiated by the French Embassy in Indonesia through Institut Français d’Indonésie (IFI) in collaboration with Business France, involves 12 French companies across architecture and museography, immersive experiences and gaming, as well as music, cultural heritage, and live events.

IFI Director Jules Irrmann noted that Indonesia is a strategic partner in Southeast Asia’s creative industry development.

“This program connects French and Indonesian industry players to foster innovative and sustainable joint projects,” he said.

The delegation also shared expertise in immersive arts, creative technology, music production, and museum and heritage management as references for collaboration.

This initiative follows the Indonesia-France MoU signed in 2025, covering film, animation, crafts, culinary arts, fashion, gaming, and design.

Through this engagement, the Creative Economy Ministry aims to accelerate joint projects, talent exchange, and innovation aligned with global creative industry needs.
