ESSEX Commercial Agency and Surveyors, Whybrow, part of the Beresfords Group, has announced the appointment of Tony Lockwood as its new Director of Commercial and Land Agency.

With more than 35 years of experience in the property industry, Tony will lead Whybrow’s commercial agency and land team, overseeing instructions and helping to drive the business forward in his new role.

Tony brings extensive expertise across commercial agency, land and development consultancy and will work closely with colleagues across the firm to enhance Whybrow’s service offering, providing strategic advice to clients on land and development opportunities, expanding the client base and improving the quality of property instructions.

Beginning his career in 1989, Tony worked within property asset management before progressing through a range of roles in the industry, and his experience spans commercial property, asset management and development consultancy. Having spent many years working in private practice, he also worked more recently in residential development agency and consultancy across the Eastern Region.

He is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and part of the RICS Valuer Registration Scheme (VRS), and holds a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management from the College of Estate Management at the University of Reading.

Looking ahead, Tony believes maintaining strong client relationships and focusing on high-quality instructions will be key to growth, alongside expanding the firm’s capabilities in development consultancy. He said: “Joining the Whybrow team, I look forward to bringing my decades of experience to the role, providing strategic insights and advice to our clients, both existing and new, and supporting opportunities for collaboration across the wider Beresfords brands.

“There are challenges across the property market at present, but there are also opportunities and demand remains strong for prime commercial space, with businesses continuing to look for stability and value in the current economic climate. My aim is to build on Whybrow’s strong reputation to enhance our commercial offering and ensure we continue to deliver high levels of service and quality advice to our clients.”

Paul Beresford, CEO of Beresfords Group, said: “Tony’s appointment marks an important step for Whybrow as we continue to strengthen the expertise across the Beresfords Group. His extensive experience in commercial property, land and development consultancy will be invaluable as we build on Whybrow’s strong reputation in the region.”
