The UK-wide network of independent commercial property consultants The Commercial Property Network has appointed Samantha Johnson as president, succeeding Fergus Laird, who moves into the newly created role of chief executive officer.

Samantha, a director at Vickery Holman and head of valuations for The CPN, has played a key role in expanding the network’s national valuations offering, delivering growth with clients including Curtis Banks, James Hay and Killik & Co.

She also serves on The CPN board and brings strong leadership experience to the role.

Samantha said: “I’m delighted to be taking on the role of president and to help lead The CPN into its next phase of growth.

“What makes this network unique is the strength of collaboration between our member firms, independent businesses working together nationally to deliver exceptional results.

“With Fergus stepping into the new chief executive role, we have a fantastic opportunity to build on the momentum of recent years, continue driving innovation, and enhance the value we deliver for our members and their clients.”

Samantha added: “I’m proud to be the first female President in the network’s 60-year history.

The appointments were confirmed following a member vote at The CPN’s Winter Briefing at the RAC Club in London, attended by more than 200 industry professionals.

Fergus, who has served as president since 2020, will now focus on day-to-day operations and growth in his new chief executive position.

The leadership changes reflect The CPN’s ambition to expand its influence and deliver greater value to member firms across the UK.

Fergus added: “It has been a privilege to serve as president during a period of significant growth and change for The CPN.

“I am delighted to welcome Sam as our new president – her stewardship of our valuations work has been outstanding, and she will be an excellent leader of the network.

“I look forward to working closely with her in my new role as chief executive as we continue to grow The CPN and create more opportunities for our members.”
