But Twins fans know all too well that Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. deserves every bit of recognition as those two aforementioned stars. Grabbing a Silver Slugger along with Byron Buxton this season, Witt Jr. also won his second-straight Gold Glove Award. But it didn’t stop there.
In his age-25 season, Bobby Witt Jr. was given the American League Platinum Glove Award for the 2025 season, and Twins fans are not surprised at all. One specific play from the year stood out when Minnesota fans were watching on during a day game on May 24.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, Christian Vazquez stepped in against Daniel Lynch IV. In a 4-4 game with Carlos Correa on first base, Vazquez flicked a pop fly to shallow left field. Surely the ball would dunk in – Twins fans thought – but Witt Jr. ran to the outfield with his back to the baseball. He robbed Vazquez of a single on an over-the-shoulder acrobatic play to keep Correa at first. Witt Jr. was in the 100th percentile in OAA this season with 24, and this play definitely helped inflate those metrics.
Twins fans also remember that game fondly because Brooks Lee would plate Correa on a walk-off single. It would be one of 10 walk-offs for Minnesota this past season, but they had to work a bit harder in this game because of Witt Jr.
Through four MLB seasons, Witt Jr. has a 21.7 bWAR, two Gold Gloves, two Silver Sluggers, two All-Stars, and one Top 2 MVP finish (with another one potentially on the way). A career .295 hitter, the Twins are somehow on the better end of the stick against Witt Jr. He has a career .272 clip against Minnesota. Though the club has his number (somewhat) for now, Twins fans are only warming up to the superstardom of Bobby Witt Jr.
