Troubling scenes on Gold Coast beach reveal sad truth about Schoolies celebrations

A depressing video from the Gold Coast has shown the sad reality of the lacklustre festival that is Schoolies.

Cleo uploaded a TikTok video showing an empty beach left over after the buzz had died down from the night before on Saturday.

In the clip, only a few people could be seen pacing along the darkened beach after sunset despite it only being 9.30pm.

‘Schoolies getting more dead by the day,’ she wrote in the caption.

Despite her friends assuring her it would be a great time on the beach, Cleo arrived to find it nearly empty with only a couple of people hanging around.

Many social media users were not surprised by the lifeless scenes with some suggesting the event had been getting slightly worse each year.

At least 15,000 young Aussies arrived at Schoolies when it kicked off last week.

OnlyFans models sparked an undeniable level of enthusiasm leading up to the event, with the notorious adult star Bonnie Blue having even teased an appearance.

Commenters on Cleo’s video were not overly shocked with the scenes from one of the final days of Schoolies, suggesting the event’s hype had passed years ago.

‘That’s so sad, what the hell,’ one said.

‘2010 was the last good schoolies,’ another said.

‘Omg, 2007 was insane! Is everyone just on their phones in their room now,’ a third said.

One person joked that 9.30pm was ‘too early’ to expect anything fun to be happening, while others said once the porn stars left, so did the students.

‘They all lined up for Bonnie and Lilly bro,’ one man wrote.

‘They are all in Bonnie Blue’s van,’ a second said.

Another lot of people said it was time for young people to give up on the idea of Schoolies and just spend the money travelling overseas instead.

Many online commenters said Schoolies is slowly dying and that people should go elsewhere for their graduation celebrations

With all the talk of OnlyFans models attending the event, one point of interest on everybody’s minds, including those commenting on TikTok, was Bonnie Blue.

The controversial creator was banned from Australia last year over her smutty Schoolies plans after a Change.org petition was signed by tens of thousands of furious Aussies.

This year, however, her notorious ‘Bang Bus’ was seen driving throughout the city but the woman herself was out of the country partying abroad instead.

‘I am in Bali,’ she told Daily Mail, also admitting that she would be staying in Indonesia for the duration of Schoolies.

This revelation, coupled with Cleo’s disappointing video, has left many teens wondering if the lack of enthusiasm may mean Schoolies 2026 might be even worse.
