5 Unique Perks of the Amex Platinum Card

The American Express Platinum Card® isn’t just one of the most valuable cards on the market. It’s also one of the most unique, offering tons of perks that other cards just can’t match. Whether you’re a frequent traveler or a stay-at-home big spender, the Platinum Card® can help you save a bundle year after year.

Here are five perks you’ll only get with the recently-updated Platinum Card®.

1. $600 a year in hotel credits

Previously worth $200 a year, the Platinum Card®’s annual hotel credit is now worth three times as much.

You’ll now get up to $300 back twice a year on prepaid bookings through Amex Travel at Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection. There’s a two-night minimum stay for The Hotel Collection. Terms apply.

A few other premium cards offer catch-all travel or hotel credits — but $600 a year packed in one perk is pretty much unheard of.

Want to save hundreds on your next luxury stay? Read our full review of the American Express Platinum Card® to apply today.

2. $400 a year in Resy credits

The Platinum Card® now offers up to $100 back each quarter on eligible dining purchases at Resy restaurants (terms apply; enrollment required). That means you can save up to $100 every three months on your next night on the town. Date night, anyone?

You’ve also got the existing perk of Global Dining Access by Resy, which gives you access to exclusive restaurants worldwide with your Platinum Card®. Combine these two perks, and you’re looking at a nice value-add for foodies.

3. $300 a year in lululemon credits

The Platinum Card® also offers up to $75 back per quarter on eligible purchases at lululemon in the U.S. (terms apply; enrollment required).

Whether you’re looking for running shorts, a new hoodie or any other sort of athleisure gear, the Platinum Card® has you covered.

4. $300 a year in digital entertainment credits

The Platinum Card®’s monthly digital entertainment credit has been upgraded a bit. You’ll now get up to $25 a month for eligible streaming and news services when you pay with your Platinum Card® (terms apply; enrollment required). That’s worth up to $300 a year, up from $240 a year previously.

In addition to Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, and The New York Times, Amex has added Paramount+, YouTube Premium, and YouTube TV to the lineup. Who wouldn’t be able to save hundreds with this perk?

5. $200 a year in Oura Ring credits

Finally, the Platinum Card® offers up to $200 back a year when you buy an Oura Ring, the popular health-tracking accessory. Terms apply; enrollment and online purchase are required.

It’s hard to imagine someone using this perk every year, but it’s nice to have in your back pocket. Oura Rings are a cool product — my mom uses hers to track everything from sleep to heart rate and more.

Is the Platinum Card® worth the annual fee?

The Platinum Card® is definitely a one-of-a-kind credit card. But the real question is: Is it worth the $895 annual fee (see rates and fees)?

The answer to that question depends on your spending habits. If you can see yourself using $600 in hotel credits, for example, that’s two-thirds of the annual fee right there. If not, you might want to look elsewhere.

In all, the Platinum Card® offers more than $3,500 in yearly benefits — if you use only a fraction of them, you can easily cover the annual fee. That means you’re not just getting a few unique perks — you’re getting a card with an annual value that’s basically unmatched.

Ready to unlock over $3,500 in annual value? Read our full review of the Platinum Card® to apply today.
