Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said thousands of air traffic controllers are going to get a paycheck with no money in it this Tuesday, and American travelers should expect that to mean more delays at airports.
“They get a notice of what they’re going to be paid on Tuesday, and they got a big fat zero. No paycheck is coming on Tuesday,” Duffy told Fox’s Sunday Morning Futures. “I’m seeing the stress come for the controllers,” he told Fox host Maria Bartiromo.
Flight delays have accelerated since the federal government shut down on Oct. 1, forcing some federal workers like air traffic controllers to report to work but without a paycheck until the shut down ends. That leads to workers calling in sick.
