As supermarket prices remain sky-high, a new grocery service is subtly revolutionising the way people handle their weekly shop. HeroGo recently landed in London after launching in Dubai and presents a savvier approach to grocery shopping, one that could slash bills by up to 25% whilst simultaneously combating food waste.

By forging direct links with farmers, producers and ethical brands, HeroGo salvages top-notch food destined for the bin and delivers it straight to the doorstep, according to the brand. To mark its UK debut, the brand is offering 50% off customers’ first box, with the discount automatically applied at checkout when ordered through this link.

HeroGo likens itself to a personal shopper who learns shoppers’ preferences over time, then offers a pre-filled box of fresh fruit and veg each week. At 6pm every Sunday, shoppers can adjust and supplement their box with pantry essentials during their shopping window.

The outcome is a full shop that’s lighter on the wallet than the average supermarket, kinder to the planet, and convenient for all parties involved, says the brand. According to HeroGo, its groceries prices are up to 25% cheaper than supermarkets.

It’s also worth mentioning that for every HeroGo box delivered, two meals are donated to those in need, making customers’ weekly shops do more than just feed their family. The process is straightforward, with shoppers able to register by providing their email address and postcode, which enables the platform to identify the delivery location, reports MyLondon.

HeroGo is giving shoppers 50% off their first grocery box.

Once this step is completed, they can specify the number of people in their household and select their preferred plan, as well as the frequency of their grocery deliveries from weekly or fortnightly. Next, they can choose the day and time for their first box to be delivered, with HeroGo delivering overnight to ensure the food remains fresh and is ready for the morning.

The platform offers a wide range of groceries, from pantry staples like oats, spaghetti and crisps, to vegetables, fruits, dairy products and eggs. Given the app’s convenience, shoppers don’t need to leave their homes to do their shopping; they can simply order from the comfort of their own living rooms.

The platform also features a selection of weekly recipes, which can assist customers in compiling their shopping lists. It’s a rival to HelloFresh, another service that delivers the necessary ingredients for home-cooked meals.

With this, customers receive fresh, pre-portioned ingredients along with detailed recipes, delivered straight to their doorsteps. The brand currently offer a 50% discount on the first box, plus free treats for three months.

Another alternative is Gousto, which delivers fresh ingredient boxes along with recipes seven days a week. This service is currently offering a series of discounts, including 50% off the first box, 40% off during the second month, and 20% off boxes three through eight.

Meanwhile, customers who have tried the HeroGo boxes have left glowing reviews on the brand’s website. One satisfied user commented: “Oh my god, it was 10/10. We’ve used all the fruit and veg already, so the quality was perfect for use. The sourced brand quality was incredible, what you would find in a ‘boujee’ organic shop.”

Another said: “I was really surprised by the quantity and quality of the items in the box. The pantry items were a mix of brands that I have used before and some I’ve never heard of, so it felt very artisan and high quality to me, usually a value shopper. There were two or three items of fruit and veg that I had to look up what they were, which was quite exciting, and most of it was in good condition.”

A third happy HeroGo customer wrote: “The contents push you to try new recipes. The quality is top and I felt like it was my birthday or Christmas with this whole box of goodies.”

Given the brand has only just launched in the UK, there’s been a notable absence of negative feedback so far. That said, potential customers should be aware they might receive vegetables they wouldn’t ordinarily buy or recognise.
