Everything WBC and United Utilities have said amid water outage

Over the weekend, a burst pipe on Nansen Close led to homes in Woolston and Padgate being left without running water.

Workers are on site to try and fix the ongoing issue, with water tankers deployed to help supply residents with water.

“We responded to reports of a burst pipe on Nansen Close over the weekend, and engineers remain on site with repairs due to complete today,” a spokesperson for United Utilities said.

“To keep customers on supply, we deployed our fleet of water tankers and rezoned water from other areas through our vast water network.

“We understand that some customers are experiencing no water, or low water pressures this morning and we’re working quickly to have this resolved.

“We thank our customers for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience.”

As a result of the issue, 11 schools in Warrington have closed today, Monday.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “We are aware of an ongoing mains water leak affecting the Padgate and Woolston Brook area.

“United Utilities have been working to repair the issue since Sunday, and their efforts are continuing today.

“While it was hoped that normal service would be restored in time for Monday morning, some residents and schools are still experiencing low or no water supply.

“As water is essential for maintaining good hygiene and safe food preparation, a number of schools have been unable to open.

“Schools will continue to update parents directly as the situation develops.”
