Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are poised to receive a substantial reward for their efforts ahead of their rematch on Saturday night. The duo will once again face off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London, seven months after their first encounter. Their initial bout saw the two stars exchange blows for 12 rounds.
Despite an impressive start, Benn ultimately fell short, suffering a points defeat to his adversary. The pair were initially set to clash again in September, but Eubank Jr declared he would not be ready. The Brit’s remarks cast doubt on the rematch, but eventually, both teams managed to reach an agreement.
With the rematch just hours away, both fighters are expected to earn significant paydays. Prior to their first match, it was reported that the total purse was a whopping £15million, equally split between the two British boxers, earning each a tidy sum of £7.5million – the largest payouts of their careers.
It appears they are poised to earn considerably more for the second bout. In a discussion with Boxing King Media earlier this year, Benn seemingly leaked the fight purse.
When questioned about worries over Eubank Jr’s weight cut, Benn responded: “I do not care about him. I do not care about him cutting weight. He is getting paid an absolute fortune. People do that for ten grand, he is getting paid ten million.”
According to various reports, a 60/40 split in the prize fund will be in place.
With the official pot at £18m, Benn is expected to pocket £8m in the rematch with Eubank Jr.
Their original clash was filled with controversy after Eubank Jr failed to make weight by 0.05lbs just 24 hours before the bout and was subsequently fined £375,000 ($500,000).
The substantial penalty lined the pockets of Benn – who ended up purchasing a luxurious Rolls-Royce motor.
Earlier this week, Benn appeared to take a dig at his opponent’s weight difficulties.
“Looking well,” Benn said. “Bit slim around the cheekbones. “I’m slightly hoping you miss weight again, just a little bit. Just a pound. Just a little bit. That would be nice. Nice little gift from you last time. I’m hoping you’re well recovered. Have you got 10 toes? 10 toenails?”
Benn’s clever jibe about his forthcoming opponent’s toenails referenced Eubank Jr’s assertion that one of his toenails fell off due to severe dehydration before their first fight.
Benn is setting his sights on further achievements, but back in his natural weight division, and acknowledges the grudge rematch with Eubank Jr will mark his final bout at middleweight as he pursues becoming a world champion, alongside participating in lucrative mega-fights.
“I think Chris will retire after this fight,” the 29-year-old told Sky Sports. “He’s fighting a welterweight. Just look at the landscape. He isn’t going to stay at 160lbs and fight a Janibek [Alimkhanuly] or a [Hamzah] Sheeraz, for half the money. It doesn’t make sense. He’s fighting a welterweight.
“I’ll drop back down to welterweight and carry on pursuing my goals and dreams at 147. This is my final fight at 160. My goal is to win a world title at welterweight. Right now my goal is to get back down to welterweight. I have the best team, nutritionist, a chef to get back down to 147. I’m going to the WBC convention in Thailand straight after the fight to get that sorted.
“There’s plenty of world title opportunities for me to get, whether it’s Barrios, [Ryan] Garcia, Rolly Romero, these are the fights that are being talked about after the fight, straightaway. Brian Norman, any of these guys. I’ll fight any of these guys.”

Eubank Jr and Benn are set to clash for a second time on Saturday, November 15. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London will once again be the venue for the event.
While official timings remain undisclosed, it’s anticipated that the undercard will commence at around 5pm UK time. The main event, with ringwalks expected at roughly 9:50pm UK time, will be exclusively broadcast live on DAZN pay-per-view.
