The NS&I Premium Bond prize winners for October have been announced, including two new lucky millionaires.
Premium Bonds are a savings account offered by National Savings & Investments (NS&I), one of the largest savings institutions in the UK, backed by the Treasury. The accounts don’t earn interest traditionally and consistently. Instead, each bond is entered into a monthly, randomly generated prize draw. Between £25 and £50,000 can be invested in the account overall, and prizes of up to £1million can be won every month.
NS&I has revealed the full list of October’s high-value winners, with savers from Scotland and Greater Manchester receiving the jackpot prizes.
The first winning bond number of the million-pound prize is 498FZ511907 to a bondholder based in Scotland. This winner purchased their winning Bond in April 2022 and holds £10,150 in Premium Bonds.
The second £1million jackpot winner is based in Greater Manchester. Their winning Bond number is 524KB804512, and it was purchased in January 2023. They hold a total of £34,350 in Premium Bonds.
Other notable winners include a bondholder from Stoke-on-Trent, who won a staggering £100,000 from a total holding of £913, and a bondholder from Scotland winning £50,000 from a £5 bond bought in 1971. The full list can be found here.
How to check if you’ve won Premium Bonds prizes
People will be able to check if they’ve won on NS&I’s prize checker app or website on Thursday, October 2.
To check on the NS&I website, customers will need their Premium Bonds holder’s number. For the prize checker app, they’ll need their NS&I number or holder’s number. People can also check for any unclaimed prizes owed to them.
The annual prize fund rate is 3.6%, which funds the monthly draws for tax-free prizes. According to NS&I, the odds of any £1 bond number winning a prize are 22,000 to 1.
Currently, 2,629,312 Premium Bonds prizes worth £106,604,800 are waiting to be claimed.
