Sona Comstar partners with NEURA Robotics to develop humanoid and industrial robots – Technology News

In a strategic move to expand into intelligent automation, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd (Sona Comstar) has partnered with Germany-based NEURA Robotics GmbH to co-develop and industrialise advanced robotics and humanoid technologies. The collaboration positions the homegrown auto components maker at the forefront of the emerging humanoid robotics sector, which Bank of America estimates could see annual sales of 10 million units by 2035.

Comstar said rapid advances in artificial intelligence, perception and control systems — alongside falling computing costs — are driving a transformative era in intelligent automation. The company plans to capitalise on this shift, which is propelling growth in both industrial and humanoid robotics and reshaping manufacturing and logistics worldwide.

What did Vivek Singh say?

“This collaboration aligns with our vision to expand beyond the automotive domain into a broader mobility space, supporting the future of intelligent manufacturing and service industries. By combining Sona Comstar’s engineering and manufacturing expertise with NEURA’s pioneering cognitive robotics technologies, we are well-positioned to deliver world-class solutions for the global market,” said Vivek Vikram Singh, MD & Group CEO, Sona Comstar.

Founded in 2019, NEURA Robotics is a European startup developing robots that integrate perception, decision-making and motion control in a single system. This approach — known as cognitive robotics — aims to overcome the limitations of traditional industrial robots, which often lack adaptability and autonomy.

Through this partnership, Comstar will develop components for humanoid robots capable of performing complex, repetitive assembly-line tasks with high precision and consistency. Such robots can adapt to production changes, enable flexible manufacturing, operate round-the-clock and significantly boost productivity while cutting downtime.

Sona Comstar’s foray marks its latest step beyond the automotive segment as it seeks to tap into the next wave of industrial transformation led by robotics and artificial intelligence.

What did David Reger say?

“The collaboration with Sona Comstar represents the convergence of two innovation leaders: one redefining mobility, the other reimagining intelligent robotics. Together, we will set new standards for innovation and scalability in one of the world’s most dynamic markets,” said David Reger, CEO and Founder of NEURA Robotics.

Shares of Sona Comstar rose as much as 4.2% intraday before closing 0.7% higher at ₹432.70 on the BSE on Thursday.
