MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (KUOO Radio) – Polaris Industries announced it is selling Indian Motorcycles on Monday, Oct. 13.
KUOO Radio reports Indian Motorcycles is being sold to California-based Carolwood LP, a private equity firm.
According to a press release, the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026. Officials with Polaris believe Indian Motorcycles will continue to be successful under new ownership.
“Polaris is confident in Indian Motorcycle’s future success under Carolwood ownership and will maintain a small equity position in the business after the transaction closes,” officials said.
The press release goes on to say that about 900 employees will transition as part of the new Indian Motorcycle Company at its manufacturing facilities in Spirit Lake and Monticello, Minnesota, including a design and technology center in Switzerland.
Indian Motorcycle said the company will retain the majority of its team.
