Iran bombs world’s largest gas hub, oil refinery

Tensions have ramped up in the Middle East with Israel launching missiles at Beirut and southern Lebanon after Hezbollah launched an attack over the border.

It comes as Iran launched more missiles at Qatar, UAE and Kuwait, with many Australians stranded as flights across the region were cancelled.

In Kuwait, several US fighter jets have crashed but the US military said the planes were downed by “an apparent friendly fire incident”.

One plane hurtling towards the ground was caught on camera.

US President Donald Trump has said he expects the war with Iran to go on for four weeks.

But a senior Iranian official has said they will not negotiate with America.

The conflict has serious implications for the price of oil, with prices at the pump in Australia already up since the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday.

Footage emerged on Monday of a drone hitting the world’s largest oil refinery in Saudi Arabia. Separately oil tanker was hit by a bomb-carrying drone boat in Oman.
