Pakistan’s industrial sector received relief of Rs. 12.125 billion under a government-backed discounted electricity package over December 2025 and January 2026, according to official data.
The benefit was extended to 127,686 industrial consumers, accounting for about 46 percent of total industrial users during the period.
The package is part of a three-year initiative aimed at supporting industrial growth through cheaper electricity.
Under the scheme, industries were offered surplus electricity at a discounted rate, resulting in a benefit of Rs. 10.3 per unit for consumers.
The policy applies across both small and large-scale industries, helping reduce production costs. During the two month period, a total of 1,176 million units of electricity were sold under the package.
This accounted for 23.80 percent of total industrial electricity consumption in the same period.
In December 2025 alone, industries consumed 557 million units under the package, representing 23 percent of total industrial usage.
This translated into savings of Rs. 5.743 billion, benefiting 125,829 consumers. In January 2026, electricity sales under the package increased to 619 million units, making up 24.5 percent of total industrial consumption.
The benefit during the month stood at Rs. 6.382 billion, with 127,686 consumers availing the relief.
Officials said the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to support industrial activity and improve competitiveness by lowering energy costs.
The Power Division added that the federal minister is closely monitoring the implementation of the package to ensure continued support for industries.
