GW Manufacturing, based in Taichung, Taiwan, has announced its acquisition of Spank Industries and Fratelli Industries.

The move sees the OEM manufacturer expanding its footprint in the global bicycle industry, taking on two brands with names established in the mountain bike space.

Commenting on the news, a spokesperson for GW Manufacturing said: “We held a grand signing ceremony in Taichung, the bicycle industry hub, to welcome these two renowned bicycle accessory brands into the GW family.

“This move not only marks a significant breakthrough in the global bicycle market but also solidifies our leadership in the high-end bike components sector.”

GW Manufacturing chairman Charles Lee further expressed that the merger will deliver exceptional products and international services, catering to the growing market demand.

Here the business also notes that “we look forward to leveraging our combined strengths in technology, R&D, and market positioning to provide global cyclists with higher quality and more innovative products.”

Spank Industries was co-founded by long-term Taiwan resident Gavin Michael Vos, a South African who has roots in MTB running back as far as the start of the sport in his home country.

Vos is also the founder of Fratelli Industries, with the business specialising in MTB rim design and manufacturing.

With a global distribution network across Taiwan, the USA, Italy, and Vietnam, the business is excited about opportunities for future growth and innovation, working as both an OEM manufacturer and as a business developing new partnerships through the acquisition of Spank Industries and Fratelli Industries.
