Shivamogga: Union minister for heavy industries and steel HD Kumaraswamy visited the Sir M Visvesvaraya Iron and Steel Plant (VISPL) in Bhadravathi for the second time on Saturday. He first visited the plant on June 30, 2024, and held several meetings to discuss its revival. During this visit, he reviewed various projects, current situation of the plant and took stock of production and expenses. The minister also interacted with workers and asked them not to worry. “The central govt is serious about reviving the plant. I have visited the plant twice since becoming a Union minister,” he said. Speaking to workers who were protesting for the plant’s revival, he said, “This plant, established by Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, and has contributed significantly to the nation’s steel sector. We will take the best possible measures to revive it.”
